Gintaras Varnagys is a fine art photographer whose work spans landscape, cityscape, portraiture and travel. His images explore the interplay between realism and abstraction, often evoking a quiet sense of mystery and reflection. Exhibited in galleries across Europe and the United States, his photography is recognised for its refined composition and timeless aesthetic.
Varnagys’ first experience of photography was when as a child he saved for almost a year to buy a Smena 35 mm camera. He developed and printed all of his images at home allowing him to experiment with different processes and techniques while all of the time learning from the images of the masters to help him grow as a photographer.
After working in fashion and tailoring for over 20 years Varnagys returned to taking pictures in 2004. While using both digital and analogue film cameras, he still prefers to use classic black and white film and his collection of vintage cameras to create his elegant and at time surreal images.
Since 2013 he has participated in many group shows and exhibitions and has been published in print and online.
